Wrapping up #EarthWeek at SEAM

Apr 23, 2021

The United States currently recycles less than 25 percent of its electronics. Over the years, more and more businesses and consumers alike have realized the environmental threats e-waste poses in the landfill. As education grows, companies trying to do the right thing often destroy perfectly functional desktops, laptops, servers and mobile devices when they reach end-of-life, primarily to protect data.

What many enterprises don’t realize, is that total destruction is not the only way to securely recycle IT equipment.  By using certified IT asset disposition vendors, resellers and recyclers, business can be empowered to make sustainability-focused decisions when it comes to end-of-life devices that enforce data security, while also getting more life from their technology investments.

At SEAM, its our goal to continue to spread this education to South Dakota and North Dakota businesses looking for responsible and secure electronics recycling options.

This #EarthWeek, we are asking our customers to see the impact they’ve had by using our services. All devices we handle are responsibly recycled, or securely wiped and refurbished for reuse in accordance with e-Stewards and R2 certifications – the most stringent in the industry when it comes to data security and environmental standards.

Reuse is ultimately the best form of recycling — getting the highest environmental benefits out of a functional device before it truly comes to end-of-life for recycling. Customers can also reap the benefits of getting value back in their pockets when devices are able to be reused vs. destroyed.
