Preparing IT Assets Before Packing
- Remove from network & follow internal asset tracking procedures.
- Reinstall caddies, cords, RAM, and accessories so devices are complete.
- Move to secure storage until packaged for pickup.
Battery Packaging
DOT requires all loose batteries to be safely packaged to prevent fires or explosions.
- Tape or cap exposed terminals.
- Separate lithium vs non-lithium.
- Use proper boxes and labels.
Sorting & Category Signs
To keep things smooth at pickup, separate by category:
- Data-bearing devices (PCs, laptops, servers)
- Miscellaneous electronics (keyboards, printers, phones)
- Monitors & TVs (LCDs, CRTs, plasma)
