Our Process:

Certified ITAD from Pickup to Proof

SEAM’s certified electronics recycling process and secure IT asset disposition (ITAD) services help businesses, schools, healthcare systems, financial institutions, and government agencies protect sensitive data. In addition, our process recovers value from retired equipment and ensures full compliance with industry regulations.

How it Works

Our Certified Electronics Recycling Process

Every step in SEAM’s process is designed to protect your data, recover value when possible, and ensure full compliance through detailed tracking and reporting.

From the moment we take possession, equipment is tracked with our secure system. Chain of custody starts here—no gaps, no guesswork.

SEAM handles IT equipment with the same precision your team expects.

Drives and data-bearing devices are either shredded or wiped.

Certified data destruction you can trust—onsite or at our secure facility.

With customer approval, eligible devices are securely wiped, tested, and refurbished—then resold through SEAM’s certified remarketing program.

Qualified systems and components are remarketed through our resale channels. Clients may receive credit or revenue share, helping offset costs or even deliver a return.

Non-working or end-of-life equipment is disassembled.

Data-bearing components are handled securely first, then parts are sorted by material type.

Everything is processed through audited, certified downstream partners—never landfilled, never exported to developing countries.

This process is audited, compliant, and verified.

Detailed reports, Certificates of Destruction, and Certificates of Recycling are delivered for every job depending on reporting needs.

Full transparency, asset-level data available, all accessible through your secure portal.

What to Expect

Whether you’re retiring outdated equipment, decommissioning a data center, or ensuring compliance with regulations like HIPAA, GLBA, or NIST 800-88r1, SEAM’s certified electronics recycling process protects your sensitive data, minimizes risk, and delivers detailed reporting for full audit readiness.

Step 1
Step 1

Consultation & Planning

We start with a consultation to learn about your goals, security requirements, and what kind of reporting you need.

From there, we create a custom disposal plan that fits your IT team, compliance needs, and internal processes.

Step 2
Step 2

Secure Collection Containers

We drop off containers, including pallets, boxes and/or locked, tamper-evident bins or carts at your location so your team can safely store equipment until pickup.

These are designed for everything from laptops and desktops to drives, phones, and mixed electronics.

Step 3
Step 3

Scheduled Pickup & Transport

Logistics options include vetted, trained & professional staff to pick up the materials using GPS-tracked vehicles.

Step 4
Step 4

Data Destruction & Sanitization

Hard Drives and SSDs are either physically destroyed or wiped using software that meets NIST 800-88r1 standards.

Drives and media can be shredded onsite or offsite depending on your preference.

Step 5
Step 5

Reuse or Certified Processing

We evaluate every device. If it still has value—and the customer approves—it’s wiped to NIST 800-88r1 standards, tested, and refurbished for resale.

If not, it’s properly dismantled and processed through trusted partners. Nothing ends up in a landfill or is shipped overseas.

Step 6
Step 6

Reporting & Certificates

Once everything is processed, you'll receive Certificates of Recycling and/or Certificates of Destruction depending on services used.

For clients who need more detailed tracking, we offer full reporting with asset type, serial numbers, disposition method, and more—all accessible through our secure online portal.
