During the recent congressional hearing, lawmakers discussed several bipartisan bills aimed at strengthening America’s ability to recover critical minerals and expand domestic recycling infrastructure.

  • Establish national standards for lithium-ion battery recycling.
  • Create a coordinated strategy for recovering critical minerals.
  • Encourage recovery of valuable materials from contaminated and legacy industrial sites.
  • Streamline permitting for facilities involved in critical mineral recovery.
  • Strengthen America’s long-term domestic mineral supply chain.

While each bill approaches the challenge differently, they all point toward the same conclusion.

Responsible recovery of electronic materials is no longer viewed solely as an environmental issue. It is increasingly recognized as part of America’s economic and strategic future.

For most organizations, retiring IT equipment is a routine part of business. Hardware ages, technology changes, and devices are replaced.
