As the only certified ITAD provider in all of the Dakotas, SEAM proudly holds the highest worldwide certifications for environmental management systems and quality processes. We are regularly audited by third party organizations to ensure our processes are meeting these standards. Our strict No-Export and No-Landfill policies ensure all electronic devices that enter our facility are recycled, reused or resold without ever being shipped to a landfill or a developing country. Most importantly, every one of our standards is in place to provide our clients with the confidence that all of their equipment will be processed to the highest environmental, secure and ethical standards possible.
The R2 Standard provides a common set of processes, safety measures, and documentation requirements for businesses that repair and recycle used electronics. R2 is rigorously and independently audited, emphasizing data security, effective data destruction, tight security and chain of custody, quality processes, safety, and transparency. Recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), R2 is a voluntary certification designed to promote and assess responsible practices and provide essential information/assurances to prospective customers.
Established by the environmental non-profit group Basel Action Network (BAN), e-Stewards ensures responsible recycling and is focused on the illegal export of hazardous electronic waste. Certification requires stringent environmentally and socially responsible practices including no export of hazardous electronic wastes to developing countries, no use of prison labor and no dumping of toxic materials in municipal landfills. It is the first such program backed by environmental organizations and major corporations alike. Supported by the US EPA and endorsed by Greenpeace USA, the Sierra Club, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the Electronics TakeBack Coalition and over 65 other environmental organizations.
ISO 14001 is a voluntary international standard that addresses various aspects of environmental management. It provides practical tools to identify and control an organization's environmental impact and constantly improve their environmental performance. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards for products, services and good practice, helping to make industries more efficient and effective. Developed through global consensus, they help to break down barriers to international trade. ISO is an independent, non-governmental organization made up of members from the national standards bodies of 163 countries.
OHSAS 18001 is internationally recognized as a method of assessing and auditing occupational health and safety management systems. It provides a framework for organizations to instigate proper and effective management of health & safety in the workplace. By having a clearly defined management system in place to identify and control health and safety risks, organizations are able to minimize risks to their workforce and visitors or external contractors on their premises. Occupational health and safety (OH&S) management systems are assessed by a third party certification body, proving to staff, suppliers and customers that they take health and safety seriously.
The National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) is the international trade association for companies providing information destruction services. SEAM is a NAID Member in good standing, dedicated to the advancement of the information destruction industry by promoting security, education and highest ethical standards.
